What a great day to celebrate Cole being 4! He opened presents when he woke up. Chris took him to Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast. My mom came down for a birthday lunch, and then tonight we had friends and family over for cake and ice cream. Whew! It was wonderful chaos! We are so proud of who Cole is becoming and thankful he is a part of our family. He is generous, loving, smart, creative, and so much fun to be around. A fantastic kid!
Sidenote: Cole looked at me tonight after everyone left and said very very sadly, “Mommy, my baby brother didn’t come on my birthday. It’s too early.” And all the while I was excited for the very same reason! I had dreaded the thought of spending Cole’s birthday in the hospital! Cole reassured me, though, when he said, “Mommy, it’s okay if we have my party in the hospital.” So sweet! Now it’s baby’s turn to shine. Come on dude, let’s meet!
Sidenote #2: I was going to post a picture of just Cole for this birthday post, but couldn’t resist the family shot. It’s probably one of the last family of 4 photos we’ll take, and it captures the happiness that was Cole all day long. Perfect for a birthday!
