It’s time! This year I made my own version of an advent wreath. It lives on our kitchen table, and so far the boys are smitten. We’ve been lighting the candles at least once a day, just because they can’t wait until Sunday. (Sidenote: Candles significantly decrease the volume at mealtimes. I’m an advocate.) Today we lit the first candle, the prophet candle, and we read from the boys’ bible about Isaiah prophesying Jesus’s birth. Next week will be the angel candle, then the shepherd candle, then the holy family candle, and finally on Christmas Eve the Jesus candle in the middle. Such a simple way to celebrate the waiting. Jesus will be born!
